Students Have to Learn the Different Essay Types on Their Own

It used to be that in high school students would learn about the different essay types.  They would have to write many of them during their high school career and would be taught the proper way to do that.  There are many different types of essays and the best way for a person to learn about them is to write them.

The problem is that many schools now focus their attention on the standardized tests students take.  These do not help a student learn the different types of an essay that can be written.  Instead they focus on the specific grammar skills that are on the tests.  When they do this, the student never gets the chance to perfect their writing style.

One way for a student to learn what is not being taught in the school is to find different types essay examples on the internet.  There are several websites that offer sample essays for people to read.  These can be used as an education tool or a tool to help someone who is writing a specific type of essay.  The sites organize the essays by topic and essay type.

If one of the types of an essay that a person is interested in is the college application essay they would click on this category on the website.  From there, they will find several examples of essays that other people have written.  It is a great tool for a person who needs to write a college essay but does not have the skills to do a good job at it.

It might not seem fair to some people that teachers are not showing their students the different types essay that that they will need in the future, but it is a reality.  If a student wants to be able to fill out their college applications and do well on the essay portions of the standardized tests they will take to get into college they need to use the tools that are available online.
