Learn to Decide on Types of Essay Writing

Usually essays are written for different purposes. Once you make up your mind concerning the objective for writing, you can choose the essay type that will be the most appropriate for your task. The majority of the essays consist of three basic sections: introduction, body and a conclusion. The introduction part includes thesis statement. The body includes all details related to the topic and the conclusion section consists of the summarizing of the main points of the essay.
Expository essay
The expository essay is one of the types of essay writing which you explain some points to the reader. The main key to successful expository essay type writing is understandable and clear thesis statement supported by reasonably chosen details. Organization of an essay is of a great importance too. For instance, if your expository essay is about tourist destinations in France, you thesis statement may be that there are a lot of interesting cities in France. In the first body paragraph you may state that Paris is a very interesting city to visit thanks to its rich history and magnificent architecture. Add some more details to develop your point and proceed to two French cities. Write a conclusion which should include restatement of the points of your thesis. Remember, it is not allowed to use ‘I’ pronoun in an expository essays type, which means you are not expressing your point of view.
Persuasive essay
In this essays type you need to take one side of a controversial issue and then try to convince your reader of your opinion. To convince the reader of the point of view you have, you need to find plausible facts and arguments to support it. The structure of a persuasive essay is similar to the one that expository essay has (thesis statement, three body paragraphs and a conclusion. For instance, you make up your mind to write your essay about the effects of vehicle engine emissions. Your thesis may be that vehicle emissions have harmful effects to the life on our planet. The body paragraphs should contain the evidence of the effects of vehicles emissions. Provide at least three examples with thoroughly researched facts. In the conclusion section one should restate the thesis statement.
Comparison essay
Comparison essay belongs to the types of essay writing where one should take two elements or notions and show how they are different and how they are similar. The introduction part should state the objects, persons or the notions you are comparing and whether there are a lot of similarities or differences. The body paragraphs should contain the comparison areas analysis. Restate your thesis statement in the conclusion section.
Narrative essay
This essay type differs from the rest. Usually, narrative essay is accomplished in the first person, using the pronoun ‘I’. As a rule, this essays type is a short story about some incident in your personal life. Narrative essays key elements are a setting, one or more characters and a plot. Remember, this essay type should have understandable beginning, body and conclusion. In order to create interesting narrative essay, you can pick up some story that has universal appeal to the senses of your reader.
